1886Bank founded in Basel by Carl Gutzwiller, aged 29. Founding member of the Basel Stock Exchange that evolved into today’s SIX Group (SIX Swiss Exchange AG), in which the bank is still a shareholder today.
1928Ernst Gutzwiller becomes a partner. Gave his name to E. Gutzwiller & Cie, Banquiers. Moved to Kaufhausgasse 7, where it remains to this day.
1930Contributed to the establishment of the Bank for International Settlements. In conjunction with other European banks, co-founder of Société Internationale de Placements, the first investment management company in Europe.
1957Co-founder ‎of Union-Investment-Gesellschaft m.b.H., Frankfurt, one of Germany’s largest fund companies.
1959Launch of Eurofund, the first European closed-end fund listed in the U.S.
1968Establishment of Geneva office, initially Gutzwiller Kurz Bungener SA and later Gutzwiller SA, Genève.
1972Founding of Cecogest, a macro-economic research firm.
1974Launch of Bourcart Treuhand AG, an accounting firm.
1995Founding of SIX Group.
2001Establishment of Gutzwiller Fonds Management AG in Basel. Launched Gutzwiller ONE, a US equities long-only fund.
2002Launch of Gutzwiller TWO, an event-driven fund of hedge funds.
2004Founding of Gutzwiller AG, Zürich.
