1886 | Bank founded in Basel by Carl Gutzwiller, aged 29. Founding member of the Basel Stock Exchange that evolved into today’s SIX Group (SIX Swiss Exchange AG), in which the bank is still a shareholder today. |
1928 | Ernst Gutzwiller becomes a partner. Gave his name to E. Gutzwiller & Cie, Banquiers. Moved to Kaufhausgasse 7, where it remains to this day. |
1930 | Contributed to the establishment of the Bank for International Settlements. In conjunction with other European banks, co-founder of Société Internationale de Placements, the first investment management company in Europe. |
1957 | Co-founder of Union-Investment-Gesellschaft m.b.H., Frankfurt, one of Germany’s largest fund companies. |
1959 | Launch of Eurofund, the first European closed-end fund listed in the U.S. |
1968 | Establishment of Geneva office, initially Gutzwiller Kurz Bungener SA and later Gutzwiller SA, Genève. |
1972 | Founding of Cecogest, a macro-economic research firm. |
1974 | Launch of Bourcart Treuhand AG, an accounting firm. |
1995 | Founding of SIX Group. |
2001 | Establishment of Gutzwiller Fonds Management AG in Basel. Launched Gutzwiller ONE, a US equities long-only fund. |
